Brabus is offering yet another amazing kit for the Mercedes-AMG G63 SUV, and it could be the most extreme yet

Just like with all the other models in its lineup, the G-Class is soon due for an update, and that will include the G63. The facelift, however, is still months away, and as you can imagine it will take even longer until customers will finally offer their facelifted G63 up for upgrades. Until then, the current version is enjoying all the attention it can get. Brabus has a number of tuning kits available for the Mercedes-AMG G63, but it seems that with every single one it offers, the tuner gets better.

When leaving the manufacturing facility in Graz, Austria, the AMG G63's hand-built 4.0-liter, Biturbo V-8 engine delivers an impressive 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. The G63 goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and can hit a top speed of 137 mph, which can be increased to 149 mph when the AMG Driver’s Package is also active. While these might be good numbers for an off-road SUV, it is an AMG model we are talking about and there is always room for improvement. Brabus has actually found more than one way to improve the G63 AMG, and while this package is definitely not the first one they offer, it doesn't mean it is not just as impressive.

The treatment applied to the new P 900 Rocket Edition "One of Ten" is similar to the 900 XLP packages and the recently launched Crawler. Brabus started by increasing the displacement from 4.0- to 4.5-liters and it did so by increasing the cylinder bore to 84 millimeters and adding eight forged pistons with this larger diameter and special profile. The work continued with the addition of new, Brabus turbochargers with larger compressor units and custom core assembly with reinforced axial bearings. The boost pressure was increased to 1.4 bar, while the exhaust system was also revised and now includes downpipes with a diameter of 3 inches.

As a result, the V-8 now delivers a total of 900 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and a peak torque of 922 pound-feet at 2,900 rpm. However, Brabus opted to limit it to 774 pound-feet to protect the transmission. All this power is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission and a permanent all-wheel drive system. With the extra 323 horsepower, the P900 Rocket Edition goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds and up to a top speed of 174 mph.

One would think that putting 900 horsepower under the hood was the biggest challenge for Brabus, but it wasn't. The tuner also had to transform the SUV into a truck. In this case, the lesson was already learned from all the many other times it did it for the 900 XLP. First, the rear suspension had to be moved further aft and the wheelbase was increased by 19.7 inches in order to make room for the pickup bed. As a result, the P900 Rocked Edition is now 212 inches long and sits 19.2 inches above the ground.

From this, the exterior was updated with the traditional Widestar body kit made from carbon fiber. It includes an exposed-carbon radiator grille with Brabus logo, a new bumper, a vented hood, fender flares, and huge air intakes. Updates also include exposed-carbon exterior mirror housings and door handles, a roof-mounted carbon wing, a roof rack plus exposed-carbon wind deflector with four auxiliary LED lights. The car rides on 24-inch Monoblock Z "Platinum Edition" wheels in a ten-spoke design. Since we are looking at a car prepared for off-roading, this specially customized G63 is also equipped with RideControl aluminum coilover suspension with billet-aluminum front struts and shock absorbers. The unit you see here is finished in a special “Rocket Grey” paint, but future customers can opt for whatever color they like.

The cabin is a combination of soft, royal black leather with bright red stitching and another 206 elements finished in the same paint. Carbon fiber also plays an important part in the package and so are the various other tailor-made aluminum components.

Just like with the previous Brabus 900 XLP packages, the new P 900 Rocket Edition "One of Ten" is not exactly cheap. The model you see here is listed for €649,638 - or about $628,000 at the current exchange rates. If you think this is the most expensive G63 Brabus has to offer, you are wrong: the Crawler was listed for €749,000 - $725,000 at the current exchange rates.
