Taber Extrusions announces the launch of a larger machining center to complement its greater aluminum extrusion capacity

The VF-12 meets Taber's focus, and its Russellville facility offers some of the largest shapes in North America.

After a series of recent upgrades and new features, Taber Extrusions announced the addition of a new Haas VF-12 CNC machining line.

"We will continue to invest in technologies that provide the widest range of services in the aluminum extrusion industry," said Jason Weber, Taber's vice president of sales and marketing. "The Haas VF-12 CNC machine tool is another example of our willingness to invest and provide the widest range of services in the aluminum extrusion continuum."

Using VF-12/40, the X-axis stroke length of the tool is 150 inches, the Y-axis stroke length is 32 inches, and the Z-axis stroke length is 30 inches. This means that long aluminum extrusions can be accurately manufactured in the machine, reducing processing time and costs. With its internal automatic tool change capability (30+1), the VF-12 meets Taber's focus on requirements, and its Russellville plant provides some of the largest profiles in North America.

The 150 x 28 inch table can load up to 4000 pounds of substrates, which will be processed by a high-power direct-drive spindle equipped with programmable lubrication and cooling hoses. From tool selection to RPM, to feed rate and coolant flow, everything can be changed to handle different alloys and obtain perfect aluminum extrusions.

With in-house casting solutions, micro-extrusion manufacturing, friction stir welding capabilities, and a full range of hard and soft aluminum alloys, Taber continues to grow its business to have the widest available capabilities. VF-12 adds another level of functionality to Taber's product portfolio, providing customers in the automotive, defense, transportation, and marine industries with more service options.

The plant has a new state-of-the-art casting plant and two additional presses, micro-extrusion capabilities, and the manufacturing area has expanded considerably.
